Ramon Jimenez must feel right at home with the current stretch of cold weather affecting Western Mass right now because he obviously has ice in his veins after hitting a game-winning three-pointer against Longmeadow High School tonight in the Connecticut River Classic. The basket gave the Pacers a 51-49 victory over the tournament hosts.
Kobe Parker returned to his accustomed position as the lead Pacers leading scoring, putting up 13 points. Isaiah Haines scored 12 and Jimenez had 11 to join Parker in double digits.
The Pacers controlled most of the early portions of the game taking a 25-20 lead to the lockerroom at halftime. As the fourth quarter wound down the Lancers had maximized a 15-7 run in the fourth quarter to one point lead. After a Lancers player missed the front end of a one and one, Jimenez outjumped everyone to bring down the rebound and called the Pacers final timeout.
With 4.7 seconds on the clock, the Pacers Leroy Matthews inbounded the ball to Parker who drove up the court looking for a shot. After running into a pair of Lancers defenders just over midcourt, he instead found Jimenez in the corner who got off the shot before the clock expired.
The Pacers will next be in action tomorrow when they will meet up with cross-town rival Chicopee Comp in the championship game of the Connecticut River Classic at Longmeadow High School. The game should tip off at approximately 8pm.
